1000 Fungal Genomes Program

The purpose of this document is to describe the interactions of a broader user community with JGI under the 1000 fungal genomes program.

How to nominate a new fungal target

Any researcher may nominate a fungal project to be included in the 1000 fungal genomes program at the JGI. A fungal project includes genome and transcriptome sequencing, assembly and annotation. Nominations are submitted using the "Nominate" menu item for each of the MycoCosm nodes or on 1000 Fungal Genomes project website.

A list of fungal families and genomes sequenced within each family (according to GOLD) is provided on this site. Fungal families with fewer than two sequenced representatives have "Nominate" button enabled. Clicking "Nominate" directs the user to the forms to fill out to nominate a new project. It is not possible to nominate a fungal project in a family with 2 or more sequenced members.

Criteria for Selection:

Approval Process

A review panel made up of 3 of the program PIs will review nominations each month using the above listed selection criteria. Review results will be emailed within a month of submission. Upon acceptance to the program, the participant will be invited to attend a call with the program PIs to discuss the proposed project, JGI requirements and processes, and expectations of participants in the 1000 Fungal Genomes Program.

Required information to be supplied by participant upon approval

Upon approval of a nominated fungal species, the participant is expected to:
